Association Profile
The Association of Battery Recyclers (ABR) is a non-profit trade
association, incorporated in Washington, D.C. in May, 1984. The
ABR strives to keep its members up-to-date on environmental and
health matters and also provides a means for communication with
government officials on issues affecting the lead recycling industry.
The ABR meets twice each year, usually in the spring and the fall.
Association members consist
of recyclers of lead-acid batteries and their components, battery
and component manufacturers, as well as the environmental consulting
services that are an integral part of the lead recycling industry.
Members continue to search for new and innovative ways to renew
the resources utilized in the battery industry and to provide
valued products and services to the lead industry. At the same
time, ABR members continue to protect the environment through
the use of cutting-edge technologies.
Who is the ABR?
The Association of Battery Recyclers is an organization of companies
that utilize and recycle lead acid batteries and other lead products.
The recycling activities engaged in by the ABR member companies
are conducted in accordance with federal and state environmental
laws and regulations governing recycling. Recycled lead and plastic
products are returned to the battery industry or other consumers,
to be used in place of virgin materials.
